Beauty Balm review!

Hey Beauties!

Happy Spring! I’m such a Spring baby hence my cherry blossom background of my blog. Sorry it’s been some time since my last post. My family had Spring Break, Easter, and I like to take my time and establish a good time with a new product I buy. For full disclosure I have never been a beauty balm person but decided to give it a go.

Gerard Cosmetics: BB Plus Illumination

BB plus Illumination and my fav flower Peonies!

First, this creme is a great price and Gerard Cosmetics is always doing promotions so it won’t break your account priced at $36 dollars. The creme is very thick and it’s a gold color which I thought at first might be too heavy, but once it’s on your face it glides so smoothly. It leaves your skin with such a beautiful glow and it’s not too glittery or have a yellowish tint to it. A little will go a long way and I apply before I put on my moisturizer. If it had SPF in it, it would be a perfect product. My only gripe is that you do have to make sure that you rub all of the product in as you don’t want a glob in your eyebrow (it happenend to me). Below is a Boomerang of me wearing just the BB creme. โ€‹

โ€‹

I would defintely reccommend this product, especially for the summertime since the product would look even better on tanned sun kissed skin and darker complexions. Your Glow would be poppinnnnn!

Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream Skin Clearing

Wearing Dream Pure BB cream

This is another new favorite of mine and I have added it to my winter skin regime. From time to time I would suffer from pimple breakouts around my cheeks and forehead and foundation is too heavy for my skin in the winter so I needed a solution. I started reading about this BB cream and how great it was and decided to give it a whirl. The picture above is me just wearing the cream and here is my overall assessment. First, Maybelline needs a better variety of skin colors and not just 3. Really though? Also, I find that some CC and BB creams leave a greyish tone to your skin which this one isn’t too bad but it’s something I have noticed. For the price, $8.99 it’s a good deal because it defintely cleared up some of my acne that I had. Also, you really don’t need that much product, and it’s very light and mattifying. It gives a clear clean look like you have foundation on without being heavy.

I would love to know your thoughts and results! Don’t forget to follow me on IG @ccseesbeauty!

Skincare Routine for Winter (Morning)

Hi Beauties!

I’ve been getting questions regarding my skincare routine for the wintertime and it definitely differs from all of the seasons. Like I mention in my last post, I suffer with severe eczema in the early fall-winter and by spring and summer it discipates. However, in the winter my flare ups are the worst and most painful. During this time I take extra care in moisturizing the dry areas.

Continue to read below on the products that I use:

Morning time products

1. First and foremost, in the morning I usually wash my face with just lukewarm water but if I have a pimple I use, CVS Health, Daily Acne Wash. This product is a great dupe for Neutrogena’s Oil Free Acne Wash. My pimples usually clear up within a couple of days and it doesn’t over dry my skin.

2. Next, when my skin is still moist and a little wet, I take a dollop of the First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Cream and apply all over my face. This is a great base that maintains moisture all through your day.

3. Then, I apply Algenist Beauty, Concentrated Reconstructing Serum all over my face and it’s not too thick at all. This serum was from a box set and my full review of the set will be coming soon but this is my fav from the set. It’s smooth and gives your skin the best natural glow.

4. Next, I apply Algenist Beauty, Complete Eye Renewal Balm. I use this day and night and I have seen such a reduction in under eye puffiness and dark circles. It’s the best!!

5. Last but not least, the most important! Murad, Perfecting Day Cream, Board Spectrum, SPF 30. Beauties! We all need to use sunscreen all year round to protect our precious faces from sun exposure and free radicals. This cream is thick and a little goes a long way. The ladies in my family are prone to moles so I use this everyday and have noticed a slow down on the amount I was developing.

no makeup on but lipstick and great skincare

Overall, I take my skincare very seriously and you all should since we only get blessed with one gorgeous face and you are never too young to start!

Ultra Repair Cream Review

Hi beauties!

I hope you are all well. This post is dedicated to all of my eczema suffers out there. For those that suffer, know that the winter is the WORST for this painful skin condition and sometimes it feels like you can’t find relief from anything. I was feeling pretty hopeless last month when my eczema was in full swing and it was affecting my hands the most. I had blisters, redness, swollen fingers and most annoying it itched like crazy!

My dermatologist had me on steroid creams and really said that there was really nothing else he could do and I quite frankly was sick of prescriptions. Because I have such a fabulous mother, she’s a QVC/HSN addict and there was a cream being advertised specifically for eczema and severe dry skin. I was totally skeptical at first, but figured I would give it a try. Here are my thoughts after using First Aid Beauty: Ultra Repair Cream:

  1. It’s extremely thick, but non greasy. I used it multiple times throughout the day and found my hands were baby bottom soft after putting the cream on. My hands looked greasy but they felt very smooth.
  2. A little goes a long way. The cream is so thick that all you really need is a dollop for your face, which I applied on the dry spots where my eczema was, then I applied my regime of serum, moisturizer, and eye cream. I pretty much used it as a base. In the past when I put my other creams on, my face would get dry and patchy by mid day, however by using this cream it lasted and moisturized all day. Big plus for me ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ
  3. One con, is that after I applied on my hands, I rubbed my hands and it seemed like I had flakes of the cream coming off but it could be that I just have to exfoliate better.
  4. It’s Allergy tested, no Parabens, harsh chemicals or Colorants. This is a huge benefit for me. My skin is EXTREMLY sensitive and I cannot use every product that says “sensitive skin approved” however this product is the real thing and worth it. My skin did burn after initially putting it on but that is normal for eczema suffers since your skin is inflammed.

great buy!!

Overall, I give this product at A- and it’s affordable as well. It was priced for 2 jars at 14. Oz for $43.00 dollars on QVC. Like I mentioned before, a little goes a long way and below I have my before and after pictures. Let know your thoughts!

Hello Fresh! Review

Hi beauties!

This post is dedicated to a new service that I recently started using and it’s called Hello Fresh! Now, I know you are all probably wondering ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค” why is she posting about food and is she getting paid to post this? The first answer is im posting because I have become so busy the start of the new year that grocery shopping is the bane of my existence and secondly NO I am not getting paid to review or endorse Hello Fresh!

This post is all voluntarily because I loved it so much that I wanted to share it all with my followers!

The deets:

It’s a food service that provides all fresh ingredients to make a dish that you have picked out already from the choices. I have a family for 4 so I opted for the Family Box.

Now I was skeptical at first that the amount of food I received wouldn’t be enough for my family and I was wrong! It was a perfect amount with leftover as well. I also chose to do 2 meals for the week because I was still trying it out and didn’t want a heavy commitment.

Just to forewarn everyone, the meals are not cooked already and it’s JUST the ingredients that come in the box. It saves so much time and because I love you all so much I am providing you with my discount code which gets you all $40 dollars off your first week.

Since I signed up with a promotion my Family Box came out to just $50.00 for the week and subsequent weeks I would $70. There are always great discounts and you can always skip a week if you don’t want it and can cancel anytime.

The Meals:

one-pot tortellini for 4

sharwma meatballs for family of 4
My favorite meal has been both! They are both delicious and nutritious at the same time! My two bonus daughters loved the meals and cleared their plates! They have a category for picky eaters so this was rather helpful as well.

Customer service:

The help line for Hello Fresh was by far one of the easiest to use and fastest. I had an issue with changing my meal on the app and they changed it for me very easily. For people that don’t eat pork or vegetarians or vegans you name it they have an option for you.

Below is my code and please let me know how you like it!

LimeCrime True Love Set Review ๐Ÿ‘„

Hi beauties!

I hope your 2017 is off to a great start!  I’m enjoying some of the gifts I received for Christmas and one of them is LimeCrime’s Velvetines True Love set. Now, I have purchased many Velvetines separately but never in a set. I’ll review each color first.

from left to right(saint, true love, cupid)
1. Saint: This color is pictured to the far left and is by far my favorite. It’s a dusty wine color once it dries and it dries so pretty! Below is a pic of me wearing it. ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿพ

Wearing Saint

2. True Love: This color is pictured in the middle and my second favorite. It’s a bright coral and perfect for all shades. It dries a little more muted than what I expected but it’s still a pretty summery color. Pic below wearing ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿพ

Wearing True Love

3. Cupid: This is the last one pictured to the right and my least favorite. It dries so ugly and looked horrible on me. No picture here because it was blah ๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿพ.  I think this color would look really great on fair or olive colored skin but I just don’t like it on myself.

Below are the colors swatched so you can see how they all look. I bought these on Hautelook and I may not buy lipstick again since I was 2 for 3 but only in shades I know look good on me as I took a gamble on the last color.

Let know you thoughts!

It Cosmetics CC cream Review!

Hey Beauties!!

It’s been awhile since I posted, but since the holidays are winding down I have more time to post.

Last month I received a pre-Christmas gift from my fabulous mother who is the QUEEN of HSN & QVC. She gave me IT Cosmetics CC Cream, Your Skin But Better: Color correcting and Full coverage cream.

Photos below ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿพ

wearing JUST the CC cream
wearing the CC cream and concealer

Now for full disclosure, I am not really a big fan of CC and BB creams. I find them annoying because the ones I have tried never really got my color correct or made me have a lighter complexion ๐Ÿค”. Nevertheless, I accepted my gift from my wonderful mom and below are my pros and cons:

Pro: This cream has SPF 50 UVA/UVA  Broad Spectrum. This is a huge plus since I am black and I take my sunscreen count and spf levels very seriously. This is the highest I have seen without a prescription which is a plus and it offers a light feel that isn’t too heavy.

Con: I have combination skin which is a challenge to find the right moisturizer that fulfills both of my needs. This products advertises that you can replace your moisturizer but for my face I can’t. I need both. I found even if I applied my routine moisturizer that I usually wear then the CC cream my noise still looked flaky and dry ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ. Since there is color to this cream, it’s noticeable so I had to apply moisturizer again very lightly to my nose. So combo skin ladies this is an FYI.

Pro: Light, Light, and Light again! This cream is really light and not heavy at all! A little goes a long way in terms of applying to your skin and I use a beauty blender which makes it easier. My advice is to do one side of your face first, then the other and not to forget your neck.

Con: The price. Not don’t get me wrong, I have no problems  paying for quality, however I think this products is slightly overpriced for the CC cream market. It’s competitors which could be drug store CC cream are half the price and are decent quality. I admit the high price could be that it is SPF 50 which is very high and top notch coverage and quality which I do see the value there. Also, you get more product than a drug store CC cream but my nose was still dry after I apply and applying more made it worse so that bummed me.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this CC cream for my ladies that are very sensitive to the sun and need lots of coverage but also be aware of your skin type as well.

Mixing Prints 101

Hey beauties!

Happy Saturday! It’s a beautiful crispy Fall day and Thanksgiving is coming fast! Recently, for my sisters birthday I styled her for her birthday dinner and she said she wanted something different and funky. We went to my favorite place which is of course, Target!

When mixing prints, there are few things to keep in mind and you will look effortlessly stylish!

1. Using a Cheetah or Animal print as a neutral.

As seen above in the picture of my sister, she had a festive fall dress and I paired it with a cheetah print cardigan. Now I could’ve put a cream or brick red cardigan or blazer but this adds a bit of funkiness and flair to the outfit that takes it to another level.

2. Making sure the prints are in the same color scheme.

I have a houndstooth print and a cheetah print which you would think would not go together but these two are both dark colored and complement each other. Try to stay in the same color scheme and you can mix big bold prints together and it will work.

3. Mixing different textures in same color scheme.

If prints are too much for you, try mixing different textures like a faux fur vest, Lurex long sleeved top, and/or colored pant that are in the same color scheme. Since it’s the fall going into winter this can be the focal point of your outfit since wearing a coat or peacoat might be much.

I would love to see all your pics!

Lipgloss vs. Liquid Matte Review

Hi beauties!

Happy Tuesday! After last weeks’ BeautyCon I bought and received so many different lipsticks that consisted of glosses and mattes! I’ve been wearing a mixture of the two and below I’ll be reviewing each line and it’s color, consistency, staying power and if it’s worth the buy.

All of the colors swatched on my hand

All reviews will be in numerical order according to the picture above๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿพ

  1. ColourPop Ultra Glossy Lip: I loved this gloss as it came inside my BeautyCon swag bag and was impressed with its glossiness and shine. The color is Sookie so I instantly thought of TruBlood. The only downside is that it doesn’t last thru meals which some of the other glosses did.
  2. LimeCrime Velvetine in Teddy Bear: This is my new grayish/lilac toned color! First of all, when I mixed my mattes together I would get this color so it was great to finally find this color that wasn’t too grey. Velvetines are really popular now and for good reason because the pigmigminted colors are gorgeous. This color stayed on for awhile too, even after eating.
  3. LimeCrime Velvetine in Wicked: OMG! This is my favorite brick red color. It goes on so smooth and is such a gorge color. It dries a little deeper and goes on really rich so you shouldn’t feel intimidated. The downside is that after awhile, small little crack may come on to your lip but it’s not a biggie
  4. LimeCrime Velvetine in Saddle: If you are looking for a nice, rich brown color that a beautiful earth tone, Saddle is the color for you. It reminds me of Kylie Cosmetics first line of lipkits which had lots of browns. It goes on really smooth and dries lighter.
  5. NYX Cosmetics Intense Butter Gloss in Black Cherry Tart: When I first swatched this color I thought it was just a little deeper that the ColourPop Sookie but it’s very rich and I LOVE the applicator brush that allows precision when applying the gloss.
  6. NYX Cosmetics Intense Butter Gloss in Spice Cake: I gave this to someone because I knew they would really like the color so I didn’t wear this one but the color is a pinkish wine color which is think and very glossy!
  7. NYX Cosmetics Intense Butter Gloss in Berry Strudel: I was pleasantly surprised my this color and got a lot of compliments when I wore it and it’s the one outside of my comfort zone. You have to apply two coats but it may come out too thick depending on your comfort level and lips. High pigmented color with sooo much gloss!

I hope you all find my reviews helpful and below is a picture of me wearing Black Cherry Tart!

ย Target shopping tips

Happy Monday!!

There is a slight chill in the air in the morning meaning  fall is on its way! You all know I love mixing high and low pieces, and where I get most of my lower priced items is my favorite, Target!!

Now some of you may get overwhelmed when you approach a large discounted retailer, now Target really doesn’t fall into that category because most of their clothes are low priced and good quality. I have Mossimo and Merona blazers and dresses that I have had for over 8 years.  Below I’m going to share some of my top shopping tips when going to Target to make it easier for you all.

1. Download the Target CartWheel App

This app is so cool and easy! What it does is that it finds discounts for you that you may not see in the circular (store ad). You can search for any item in the store by brand, type, or category like apparell. You may get 15% off women’s apparell or 5% strawberries. It’s really that random and you can add multiple coupons on one transaction. It’s free on the App Store for IPhones and Androids as well. A must have!

2. Shop seasonal items 1-2 weeks before the seasonal event.

When a new seasonal event is about to occur, Target usually starts to clear out the old and bring in the new about 1-2 weeks before that event occurs. For example, if you are trying to get your hands on some suede booties in a popular size like 7 or 8, you need to go when they are first put out or you won’t find them. If you actually wait for Fall to begin or the cold to start, you will be getting slim pickings. I worked at Target as a teenager and saw the routine retail schedule relating to seasonal items. The same rules apply to bathing suits, back to school items, any seasonal event.

3. Apply for a Target Red Card

If you are a frequent Target shopper ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿพ (guilty) you will reap lots of benefits from this card. I do not have many retailer credit cards because that brings your credit score down, however pick wisely to which one you will choose. The Target RedCard, allows Free Shipping on all items purchased on Target.com, you can attach your debit card to the Target RedCard, 5% off ALL purchases when you use the card, and you get an extra 30 days on returns and exchanges. Depending on your credit you are given a certain limit, and they give awesome text reminders to pay your bill.

4. Go to Clearance rack in the middle of the week.

I find that mid-week or on a Monday you will have a better selection on clothes that are marked down. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are good because there is a rumor that on those days the Team members mark down the clearance items even more. Also, it’s not as hectic than it is on the weekends.

5. Shop their sandals/flats/heels , be particular about boots and booties.

When it comes to their summer shoe choices,  the quality is pretty decent. I have had sandals for over 10 years that I bought from Target and they are in good condition. However, some of the boots only last about 1-2 years if you are lucky. I am heavy footed and walk really strong so I need durable shoes. Don’t get me wrong they are cute and stylish but I would spend a little more on this type of shoe because there will be more wear and tear in Fall & Winter.

I hope these tips and ticks help you all because they continue to help me as I scout out my favorite Target stores. Happy shopping! ๐ŸŽฏ

Hydra matte review by Gerard Costmetics

Happy September!

Its a month of back to school, football, pumpkin spice lattes, and best of all FALL makeup and fashion!!! I’m so excited to try out new fall colors in lip colors and especially matte.

I recently tried for the first time Hydra Matte liquid matte lipsticks by @GerardCosmetics. First, the color selection and packaging are gorgeous! I have swatches and pictures with three colors I purchased below:

The great thing about this line of liquid mattes are that they are not overdrying. They dry pretty quickly which has its pros and cons because I like to mix lip colors together and it’s easier to mix when the colors are still wet. This line is usually $20 dollars a piece however I got them for $12 each and the company is always doing promotions so it’s definitely affordable. The ADDED BONUS? I was shipped a liquid lipstick gloss that I didn’t order and it came with a mirror and light??!! It was so cool!I have a picture of the lipgloss separately so you can see the light and mirror.

iced mocha, coachella, salmon, and skinny dip

Below are photos of me with each of the liquid mattes on in different lighting as well.

Stay beautiful!
